Griffin onshore wind farm
Client: Scottish and Southern Energy
Location: Perthshire, Scotland
Date: 2011 -
CSD's new RISE RAPID Duct Seal system was installed as a successful solution providing a water tight seal to leaking cable ducts at the Griffin onshore wind farm, since then it has been installed throughout the highlands site. The product has ensured water and gas tight sealing to all cable and pipe ducts for the life of the structures.
The SSE Griffin wind farm is currently under construction and will consist of 68 turbines being erected north west of Perth, in the Scottish Highlands. With a capacity of 156 MW, it is expected to power approximately 80,000 homes on its completion in Spring 2012. During the project build many of the ducts were hampered with running water and CSD's Aquastop system was used to stop the water flow during installation of the RISE RAPID duct seal. Once fully cured the system provides up to 4 bar of water tight integrity and is proven to retain extremely high levels of protection and age tested to ensure no deterioration in performance for at least 50 years, offering an ideal solution to any challenging or high risk environment.
For almost 20 years, CSD has led the market in the supply of cable and pipe penetration sealing systems to the construction, water and electrical utility industries.CSD has since extended its expertise and strives to become a prominent market leader within the expanding renewable sector. CSD is delighted to be involved with the Griffin wind farm project and the expansion of UK renewable energy sources.
