Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced installer or team leader to join CSD Technical Services, working on major infrastructure, utilities and energy projects across the UK. As a Leading Hand Installer, you’ll play a key role in delivering specialist NOFIRNO water- and gas-tight duct sealing systems, supporting the Installation Manager while leading by example on site.

This hands-on role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring others, maintaining exceptional quality standards and taking pride in delivering work safely and right first time. Key Responsibilities

Installation Leadership

  • Lead day‑to‑day installation activities for NOFIRNO duct sealing systems.
  • Support the Installation Manager by directing installers, allocating tasks, and maintaining workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure correct preparation, installation, and finishing of all duct seals.

Technical Competence

  • Interpret duct‑seal drawings, penetration schedules, and manufacturer installation details.
  • Provide guidance on correct NOFIRNO installation techniques, including cable/pipe preparation, sealant application, and component fitment.
  • Identify clashes, incorrect duct configurations, or sequencing issues and escalate appropriately.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all works meet CSD standards, manufacturer specifications, and third‑party certification expectations.
  • Check material suitability, and correct product selection for each duct configuration.
  • Maintain “right first time” installation quality and support installers in achieving consistent standards.

Safety & Site Conduct

  • Follow RAMS and ensure the team adheres to safe working practices at all times.
  • Lead informal safety briefings and reinforce correct PPE use and safe methods.
  • Maintain a tidy, organised work area and uphold CSD’s safety culture.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Record installation details accurately, including cable/pipe data, duct configurations, and seal types.
  • Capture photo evidence and support completion of sign‑off documentation.
  • Use OneTrace or equivalent digital QA systems to maintain accurate, real‑time installation records.

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise professionally with client representatives, site management, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Communicate installation progress, issues, and material requirements to the Installation Manager.
  • Support planning of daily/weekly work fronts by providing accurate progress feedback.

Material & Equipment Handling

  • Manage materials responsibly, ensuring correct storage, handling, and usage.
  • Report shortages, damaged materials, or incorrect deliveries promptly.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and maintained appropriately.

Travel Flexibility

  • Attend UK sites as required, including overnight stays.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Practical experience installing duct sealing systems preferred but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of water‑ and gas‑tight sealing principles.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and duct‑seal installation details.
  • Experience guiding or mentoring installers on site.
  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work professionally with clients and other trades.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safety and compliance.

Desirable Qualifications

  • CSCS Skilled Worker or Supervisor card.
  • SSSTS qualification.
  • Experience on major infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects.
  • Experience using OneTrace or similar digital QA systems.

Contract Details / Benefits

  • Permanent contract.
  • This role involves working on projects throughout the UK, with overnight stays required where necessary. Accommodation and overnight subsistence allowance are fully provided.
  • Typical earnings of £40,000-£45,000 including regular overtime and weekend work.
  • Typical working pattern Monday-Friday, weekend overtime required.
  • Company van provided.

  • Immediate or near‑immediate start preferred.
