RISE NOFIRNO solution for Apaches new bridge-linked satellite platform

CSD Sealing Systems have been selected by Apache and OGN Group, to supply and install RISE NOFIRNO for all pipe penetrations on the Apaches new bridge-linked satellite platform for the Forties field in the UK North Sea.

The successful recent load out and sail away of the Apache platform at OGN’s Hadrian’s Yard, Wallsend marked the end of the fabrication stage as all interconnecting pipework, power and controls cabling were installed onshore to minimise offshore work. The CSD team worked closely with OGN, providing onsite support and a full training programme to the onsite installation teams from Kaefer C&D. In addition a highly trained and experienced team of installers were provided by CSD to support Kaefer C&D to ensure the critical sail away deadline was met.

The RISE NOFIRNO system was chosen because of it's exceptional fire performance, it will not allow corrosion inside the penetration and it’s ability to provide a flexible seal allowing movement of the pipe work.

This is one of the largest platforms built on the River Tyne, with the 100 metre-long 450-tonne bridge platform to link to the existing Forties Alpha facility in the Apache-operated field, off the north east coast of Aberdeen. In addition to increased drilling capabilities, the satellite platform will expand critical utility services to the field, including power generation, produced fluid processing, high-pressure gas compression for artificial lift, and dehydration.

CSD Sealing Systems are supported by a first class product range developed and manufactured by Beele Engineering/CSD International of the Netherlands. Products have been installed in a wide range of offshore situations, including a number of oil and gas platforms throughout the world.
